Oingo Boingo Picture
Frontman Danny Elfman's older brother, Richard, actually started the band, later handing leadership down to his brother once he decided directing was his way to go. This hyperkinetic New Wave band is characterized by their manic live performances and eclectic range of songs, Elfman and the band performed for a remarkable twenty years. The Californian band, a paired-down version of the theatrical troupe The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, released eight major albums and two live compilations, each containing songs that varied from fast-paced ska to soulful jazz to emotional rock to off-kilter pop. Their style can best be defined as "undefinable." Now mostly known for their frequent contribution to movie soundtracks (including their most succesful song "Weird Science") Oingo Boingo formally broke up in 1995 after their last Halloween live concert; the reason being that 'it was time.' Since the band's dissolution, frontman Danny Elfman has continued to find success in his career writing film scores, particularly in collaboration with director Tim Burton; he almost exclusively employs Boingo guitarist Steve Bartek as orchestrator. His film scores have included Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Good Will Hunting, Men in Black, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, Big Fish, and dozens more.

Fill The Void Lyrics

Oingo Boingo

Once there was a man who decided he knew everything
Once there was a book that he threw in my face
Once there was an angry mob that marched
Up and down the street
Dont ya know they all called my name
What do they want from me?
Chorus
What do they want from me?
What do they want from me?
What do they want from a poor boy who
Cant believe
They want to fill the void
They want to fill the empty spaces
But I wont let them consume me
With the rest of the lifeless faces
Once there was a little girl
Who thought that she was a queen
And she thought the world was a playground
Filled with sand
So with all her friends she created a fantasy
They all come to me with their demands
What do they want from me?
Chorus
Every little thing is a piece of a larger thing
Ever little fish is a tyrant of the sea
Every little atom is a master of his family
Every single piece calls my name
What do they want from me?
Chorus
